Mourning doves have a well-earned reputation for being really lousy nest builders. Some actually manage to assemble a nest, although most other birds would find it greatly lacking. Other mourning doves just find something that is roughly nest shaped and maybe - maybe - add a couple of twigs or a blade of grass.
